The scenery is spectacular. The trees are all different colours, red, pink, orange, yellow, it’s really lovely. Nestled between the forests are large glistening lakes.
One hour later the bus stops, first of 2 stops, people get off, we can now all sit together. One hour later 2nd stop must change buses. The new bus had been waiting because our bus is ½ hour late. Bus driver on the 2nd bus is cranky, probably because he has had to wait for us. Tells me he won’t wait for me if I take too long in the shop. I have to get water and food, kids are thirsty. Luckily (code for thanks to God) there’s no line up at the counter so I am back in plenty of time. Poor Vincent has managed to transfer all of our luggage over from one bus to the other. Quick head count, yes, we’re all here on we go.
Over the Confederation bridge we travel which connects PEI to the main land. The bridge is over 12 km long and apparently the longest bridge in the world over ice-covered water. It really is something to see.
14,000 km, 4 flights and 1 bus ride later we final arrived at our destination!!!!!
Get a good tour of part of the Island on the bus as it goes to the town of Summerside first and then back to Charlottetown. The Island is beautiful. Green grass like carpet everywhere you look. Quaint, neat houses all different colours with sloping roofs.
I have a feeling something is missing from the landscape but it takes two days until it dawns on me what it is. Almost no property fences makes everything look open and expansive where one garden rolls into the next.

How gorgeous !
ReplyDeleteI remember reading about this amazing bridge a few years ago, it's construction and I viewed a 24hour webcam on it except it was night time over there at that time! I appreciate long bridges of course (Redcliffe and our new bridge is almost joined to Redcliffe short a few metres) but this one must be 3 or 4 times ours!
