Chess Champs

Since we've been here we've been going to the monthly chess tournaments. This months chess tournament was to decide who would represent the province (the equivalent of an Aust. state)of Prince Edward Island for each grade level in the Canadian National Chess Tournament Championships.

David crushed his opponents and emerged the undefeated victor for his grade division taking the gold trophy. Giving him a place in the PEI team of 12 going to the National Championships. Mary-rose did well for her grade division taking the bronze trophy. Naomi put in a valiant effort as well.

Unfortunately I forgot my camera so didn't get any shots of the kids getting their trophy's, thankfully the chess association will be posting photos up on their website. I'll pass on the link once the photos are on the website.

The amazing thing is, and this is where I see another blessing from God. The National Championships this year are being held in Montreal in May. We were already planning to travel in May and go through this area. Last year for example it was way out west somewhere and we never would have been able to get there, Canada is huge.

The PEI chess club doesn't seem to mind that an Australian will be representing them, since we are living on the Island. So, it will be very interesting. David will be playing against the winners from all 10 Canadian provinces and 3 Canadian Territories. Let the games begin!

  1. Congratulations to David and to the girls for a fine effort. Madeline and Grace say well done too. Hope you do just as well at the nationals. We will be cheering for you back home.:)
