Spring has Sprung.

David got invited to his first Canadian birthday party, one of his friends from church, turning 10. He had a good time and it was similar to an Aussie party except for the sledding.

While he was at the party the rest of us went for a walk along the beautiful Charlottetown sea front. Coming across a playground we stopped to play and in the near by woods spotted the first ever sighting of a real live squirrel! Cute little beggars, small enough to fit in my hand. They have finished their hibernation.

It's hard for me to believe that we are now on the other side of winter. I really enjoyed the novelty of the winter. The word has a whole new definition for me now. It hasn't snowed for over a week and about 30% of the snow has melted away, the grass is showing in many places. No more skiing :-(

On the brighter side the good news about the end of winter is, with the roads clear and dry we can resume our exploration of the island. We already took a quick trip up to East Point Lighthouse. It was really beautiful.

I'm starting to look forward to all the touristy things opening up, numerous museums, theme parks, shops and restaurants that only open over summer months. Apparently, about 250,000 people visit P.E.I. over Summer.

Then, on Friday we went for a walk in Greenwich National Park which isn't far from the church we often go to. We have done 2 of the walks there before and they were really nice walks. But, I was absolutely shocked when we did the 3rd walk, I can not convey in words how beautiful it was. After walking through the woods (where I spotted 3 squirrels) we emerged to find a broad-walk type bridge which spanned the width of a beautiful lake, at the end of the walk way was a short but steep sand dune and when we made it to the top the view was breath taking. To our right we had the beautiful lake which we had just walked over and to the left was the expansive ocean choker bloc with icebergs! A beautiful sandy beach stretching in both directions as far as the eye could see. It was wondrous.

I didn't have my camera with me so I have pasted some photos from a website, if you look close enough at the aerial photo, you can see the long bridge crossing the lake ending at the beach. The very large body of water that can be seen in the background is St. Peter's Bay.
