Lent has arrived just in the nick of time. My chocolate eating and coke guzzling was out of control! 40 days to Easter our time here is really starting to fly.
The weather this week has been great. Hovering around 0 degrees C. With plenty of snow. Funny thing about snow, it can be snowing all night and unlike rain you don't hear a thing. So when you wake up and see there's been several cm's of snow overnight it's always a surprise.
Last week-end was a long week-end with a public holiday on Monday for "Islander Day".
We were back to skiing on Friday after a 2 week absence, unfortunately it took me awhile to find my ski legs again.
On Saturday, we went to the Jack Frost Children's Winter Fest. which was alot of fun. Horse drawn sleigh rides, sled rides and lots of things sculpted out of ice and snow, hence the rather large snowman pictured on the left, who much to my politically correct disgust was described in the local paper as a "snowperson" - give me a break!
Sunday, another lovely family from church invited us back after Mass to their house for brunch. This happens regularly. Their teenager was captivated by my tales of real life encounters with such mythical creatures as cockroaches, spiders, and snakes, none of which exist on this island. Ah yes, I am enjoying my time without cockroaches!
Good luck to all with your Lenten sacrifices.
