The Long Haul

Time for the long haul! A twelve hour overnight flight on United Airlines 870 to San Francisco, again we manage to arrange seats so we are sitting together.

Spend a good deal of time pondering class segregation after passing through first, business and economy class on the plane. David Copperfield couldn't have easily escaped from the cramped space.

The good thing about such a long flight is that it gave me plenty of time to just sit and think. Food isn’t too bad, isn’t too good either. Kids are very well behaved, they are content with the novelty of it all.

Helena especially likes listening to the radio on the head phones and changing the channels all under her own control. The other kids like the abundance of complementary coke, eventually they fall asleep and get quite a bit of 'shut eye' during the night. Eve is great, sleeps a lot and feeds well, Vince and I manage to snatch a few winks here and there.

A nice stewardess gave all of the kids a badge – pilot wings.

The hours pass, eventually we are landing.
